Things I learned on my first week of training

Week One down and I am Happy Sore. Wednesday we had coached swimming and on Saturday,
we did a coached run/walk along the beach in Santa Monica. I got a leg cramp from
swim (haven't even left the pool yet) and an arch cramp from the run (this when I got
home). This is what I learned this week:

  • DON'T FORGET BANANAS!
  • Each inch of belly lost is equal to one inch of body that sinks due to lost buoyancy.
  • Drool doesn't show at swim practice!
  • Don't laugh at people who wear nose clips cause there will be a day you need them.
  • Swim drills suck!
  • Pool water ingested does not count as hydrating.
  • The more layers your keep in the car, the happier and warmer you will be! :)
  • Tights aren't geeky when you are warmer than the guy in running shorts jumping up & down.
  • Keep smiling... even as you have to walk during a run.
  • Cramps in your arch HURT!
  • Naps are ssssooooooo nice now!
